Jen Zimberg was in a painting course—a year-long study and practice in color—when she finally found the reason to record her first EP, what would become Arrow Up. A long-time bedroom songwriter and living-room performer, Jen hadn’t brought her music to a public audience. The songs are gentle, quiet numbers, but not without their strength. It was this recognition that led Jen to record and perform: that art can lift our souls into movement, and we can experience a different way of being from the everyday. Maybe art can help us learn and grow.
Jen and her music contain multitudes. Her songs are both sly and sincere, and they are always deeply spiritual. I think that’s my favorite part about her music –that she is always asking us to look up.
